The Recorder: Europe’s Richman, Poorman, Beggarman or Thief?
Concert with Consortium5
During its long and varied history as an instrument played at Royal Courts as well as in popular domestic music making, the recorder has been associated with the characteristics of all of the above. In this provocative programme Consortium5 displays the wealth, colour and diversity of music that the recorder either ‘owns’ or has claimed and appropriated for this performance on an impressive range of baroque. Consortium5 are a vibrant and exciting young recorder consort. Using a huge array of both modern and renaissance instruments. They perform a repertoire spanning over 700 years. This would include works by Dowland, Byrd, Vivaldi and Bach. This talented and well-presented young group is just the thing to dispel the myths that seem to surround recorder groups in this country.
